Both my footer and side bar Latest news widget disappeared. What did I change ?

Hi,

Both my sidebar and footer Latest News widget suddenly disappeared. Please see attached screenshot : the widget is in place and should be displayed. What do you think I could have changed ?

Please note that in another post I ask you why portfolio pictures does not appear on the home page. Do you think both issues can be linked ?
